You need help, but life is busy.
You’ve made it to that point—you need a therapist.
Life is chaotic, tension and stress are high, and you’re not yourself. You’re ready to get this healing party started!
Now, if only you could find a few extra hours each week to navigate traffic, drive to your therapist’s office, and find parking.
With all that free time (*cough*) you have as a student/mom/rock star/working woman, you can find the time, right? Wrong!
Online therapy accommodates your lifestyle.
There’s a solution, and it’s just as effective as the real thing!
Online therapy, also known as telehealth or telemental health, offers a convenient and unique way to attend therapy that works for you.
You can attend therapy sessions from the comfort and the privacy of your own home. Curl up with a warm blanket and a cup of your favorite tea or coffee in a quiet, comfy corner of your house.
Sit across from your computer and have a heartfelt, down-to-earth conversation with your therapist.
Flexibility, not place, is the key.
Attending therapy in the comfort of your own home isn’t the only option, though.
Some of my clients choose to: take a hike or walk their dog while meeting with me via phone, attend their 50-minute therapy session on their lunch break, meet for therapy in their parked car to avoid peak traffic times, or meet by video chat while their kids do every-day kid things in the next room.
How does online therapy work?
The first step is to call me at (503) 915-4906 and schedule a complimentary 20-minute phone consultation. This 20-minute call allows me to ensure that I can help you, and it helps us decide if we are a good fit for working together. If we seem like a good fit, then we schedule our first full online therapy session.
For every session, you have the option of meeting with me by phone or secure video chat. If meeting by phone, I will call you at our scheduled appointment time. If meeting by secure video chat, you’ll receive an e-mail appointment reminder and a unique link to access your appointment 24 hours before your scheduled visit.
If accessing our appointment from your tablet or mobile device, you will need to download the Simple Practice Telehealth app from the app store. This app is free to download and use. If accessing our appointment from your laptop or desktop computer, you click the link—no app needed.
I’m hesitant—Does online therapy work?
It is normal to be hesitant about something new.
Most of my clients shared that although initially hesitant about attending therapy online or by phone, they felt that they could form a good connection with me as their therapist and found using this medium to be quite helpful.
Like monitoring your symptoms during in-person sessions, I will check-in with you to hear how you feel telehealth is working and if there are any changes that we might make for the experience to be more helpful to you.
As a clinician, I always like to ask what the research says about a treatment’s efficacy. Research has consistently shown that telehealth is an effective medium for delivering mental health services/mental health therapy.
